Our newest director-to-be, Panama's first & only internationally certified Midwife

Maira Sanchez Midwife

Maira is from the province of Chiriqui in the Republic of Panama. She was a nurse and went on to study her birthing passion in Mexico to acquire her Midwifery training. She is the first internationally certified midwife in the history of Panama. Maira & Niki are your homebirth team for low-risk birth!

Jimena Mosquera

Jimena studied business administration at the University of New Orleans but knew that giving back to community was more profiting her soul.

A mama of three, she dedicates her time to honoring, supporting, and empowering women to weave and manifest their most desired way of birthing and being.

Jimena specializes in prenatal and post-natal yoga + is a doula who has been serving the pregnant community in English and Spanish in Panama since her arrival in 2004. Jimena offers numerous workshops for pregnancy and birth.

Laura Flores
Treasurer

Laura E. Flores

Laura Flores is a well-traveled and widely connected international executive with over 15 years experience in marketing, public
administration, non-profit management, and organizational development and strategy. She currently serves as Assistant
Representative for UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, heading the Panama country office in its program and advocacy efforts in support of reproductive health, gender equity and population and
development.

Prior to that, Ms. Flores was Director for Business & Industry at the global conservation organization, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Washington, DC where she led the mission-critical effort to build public private partnerships with Fortune 500 companies. Ms. Flores also served as a senior official for the Panamanian Government, including a Presidential appointment as the first Vice Minister for Foreign Trade. In this role, Ms. Flores created a cabinet-level organization responsible for investment and export promotion and trade negotiations.

After leaving the government, she established and managed the Business Initiatives Office for the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. Ms. Flores has served on several boards of directors, including the National Society for Hispanic MBAs - Washington DC chapter, and the Panamanian chapters of Fundación Empretec and Transparency International.

Ms. Flores holds a BA degree from Brown University in Economics and International Relations, and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

She is bilingual in Spanish and
English and also proficient in French and Italian. She lives in Panama with her husband Scott and three-year old son, Max Alberto.
